Mr. Chris Leggett is our senior teacher here in Raider Nation.
Mr. Leggett grew up in Southwestern Pennsylvania and received undergraduate degrees from California University of Pennsylvania in special and elementary education. In 2001, he moved to Virginia and began teaching in Lancaster County. He later moved on to teach in Spotsylvania and Caroline Counties, where he also coached wrestling and cross country. He also earned his master’s degree in administration and supervision during this time.
Prior to his move to Hanover in 2021, he worked for Henrico County as a special education teacher, critical response teacher, and department chair. In 2020, he was named the Christie Award winner at Moody Middle School, which recognizes outstanding special education teachers within Henrico County. Mr. Leggett previously served as the special education senior teacher for the Hanover County Online School.
Mr. Leggett moved to Hanover County in 2012. His son, Reece, is a Class of 2026 graduate of AHS, and his daughter, Brooke, is now a sophomore at AHS.
Outside of work, Mr. Leggett enjoys attending his children’s wrestling and volleyball matches; watching the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins; and outdoor activities including biking, playing pickleball, and boating at Lake Anna.
