Mr. Michael Kidd

A native of Hanover County, Mr. Kidd grew up right here in Mechanicsville and is a class of 2000 graduate of Atlee High School. He spent his first 10 years in education as a teacher, coach, athletics director, and department chair right here in Hanover County at Bell Creek Middle School before coming to Raider Nation in 2015 as a physical education teacher, coach, and assistant athletics director.

From July 2017 until January 2024, Mr. Kidd served Deep Run High School as the director of student activities, building the Wildcat athletics program into one of the premier programs in the central region before returning to his alma mater on January 9, 2024, as the director of student activities of Atlee High School.

Mr. Kidd received his bachelor’s degree in health, physical education, and exercise science from Virginia Commonwealth University and his master’s degree in sport management and administration from West Virginia University. Michael and his wife Kelly (a teacher at Mechanicsville High School) have two daughters, Audrey and Ella, both of whom attend Rural Point Elementary School. He enjoys playing golf, spending time with his family and friends, and helping all students navigate their athletics and extra-curricular interests.
