New for 2025–2026
Regular school attendance is paramount to success. Please be sure to come to school on time and ready to learn every day, and do your best to leave outside appointments for the after school hours. Of course, we understand there are times, due to illness or other unforeseen events, that require you to be late or miss a day of school. When this happens, please follow the guidelines on this page and view our attendance note to keep us all informed.
Early Dismissal
We strongly encourage you to schedule all appointments during after school hours. If an early dismissal is necessary, please do the following:
- Drop off a parent note at the Attendance Office prior to the start of 1st block at 8:45 a.m.
- Passes will be delivered during the first block.
- After showing your teacher the early dismissal pass, quietly leave class at the time designated on the pass. Please note that we will not call students from class.
- Sign out at the Attendance Office. A parent is not required to come into the school.
- If your student should return to the school, they must sign back in at the Attendance Office.
- If a student does not submit a parent note, the parent/guardian must come in to the Attendance Office to sign the student out.
- Early dismissals are only accepted over the phone or through email in emergency situations and must be approved by a school administrator.
Late Arrival
A student who arrives after 8:45 a.m. to class is considered late.
- All tardy students must report to the Attendance Office upon arrival. If a student is late due to a medical, dental appointment, court appearance, or another excusable reason, we kindly request documentation from the appropriate provider. If the provider’s note is not available, a parent/guardian note will be accepted. Parent/ guardian notes should include the following:
Student’s full name
Student’s ID number
Excusable reason for late arrival
Parent/guardian signature
Day time phone number
- Students who are on late buses will receive a late bus pass upon arrival.
Full Day Absence
If your student is going to be absent, please do one of the following within three days of the absence:
Call the Attendance Office at (804) 723-2121
Send a parent/guardian-signed note to provide a reason for the absence to the Attendance Office with the following information:
- Student’s full name
- Student ID number
- Date of Absence(s)
- Excusable reason for absence
- Parent/guardian signature
- Day time phone number
Medical, court, or other professional documentation is always preferred. Please send an email to [email protected] in the Attendance Office.
***Failure to send in documentation within three days will result in an unexcused absence.
