What We Do 

School counseling programs are collaborative efforts benefiting students, parents, teachers, administrators and the overall community. School counseling programs should be an integral part of every student's daily educational environment, and school counselors should be partners in student achievement.

The question has been posed, "What do school counselors do?" The more important question is, "How are students different as a result of what school counselors do?" 

Hanover County Public Schools adheres to the American School Counselor Association National Model, which is a framework for a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program.

The Patrick Henry High School Counseling Department strives to help all students identify their aspirations, develop post-secondary plans, and recognize their maximum potential through a data-driven, comprehensive, collaborative, and equitable counseling program. While valuing the worth of each individual and embracing each student’s unique needs, we hope to see our students achieve optimal success in the next five to 15 years by accessing the necessary resources to empower students to make a positive difference in their futures.

Located in Ashland, Virginia, our school has a long tradition of excellence.
